On 16 July 2026, the China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) issued a Call for Nomination of Experts to join as the committee member of Intelligent Manufacturing Standardization Technical Committee, that will be placed under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (hereinafter referred to as the MIIT TC Intelligent Manufacturing). CESI will serve as the secretariat of the new committee.
Background
In January 2026, MIIT launched a Call for Comment on the establishment of 11 MIIT TCs , including TC Intelligent Manufacturing. According to the Call for Comment document, the new committee will focus on standardization of common technologies, intelligent manufacturing supply, application, and evaluation. Like other MIIT TCs, TC Intelligent Manufacturing will be formulating sector standards.
Qualification Requirements
Candidates should hold intermediate or senior professional technical titles (or equivalent positions) in legally established organizations within China and be nominated by their employers.
They should have at least five years of experience in intelligent manufacturing, with proven expertise in areas such as intelligent equipment, smart factories, industrial networks, or industrial AI technologies, and possess recognized industry influence.
Familiarity with domestic and international intelligent manufacturing standardization is required.
Priority will be given to those with experience in drafting national or sector standards, leading provincial-level or above demonstration projects, developing core software/hardware products, holding relevant patents or monographs, publishing papers in core journals, or participating in international standardization activities.
Candidates may serve on no more than two MIIT professional standardization technical committees concurrently and must meet other requirements under the Measures for the Administration of Professional Standardization Technical Committees of MIIT.
Duties of the Expert:
- Submit proposals for the formulation and revision of sector standards;
- Attend technical reviews and annual meetings, and vote on committee matters;
- Supervise the work of committee leadership and the Secretariat, monitor fund usage, and provide feedback on standard implementation;
- Participate in the promotion and application of intelligent manufacturing standards and international standardization activities;
- Perform other duties as prescribed by the committee charter.
Furthermore, the new committee is expected to engage in international standardization activities, including joint standards development and mutual recognition, particularly through the BRICS framework and the Sino–German cooperation mechanism. Foreign stakeholders should monitor the committee’s composition closely going forward to identify their future counterparts in these forums.
