SAC/TC485(Communication) Hosted First Working Meeting in 2026

On 17 June 2026, the National Standardization Technical Committee on Communication (SAC/TC485) held its first working meeting of 2026 in Beijing. Chaired by Dai Xiaohui, Deputy Chair and Secretary-General of TC485 and Secretary-General of the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), the meeting drew 34 members. Wen Ku, Chair of TC485 and Chairman of CCSA, attended and delivered the keynote priorities set by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC):

  • Streamlining standards development. TC485 will establish a refined, end-to-end management mechanism with strict, dynamic oversight at every stage to shorten the development cycle for national standards.
  • Accelerating digital transformation. The committee will fast-track the digitalization of standards, rolling out comprehensive digital initiatives to upgrade and enhance standardization efforts through digital technologies.

The meeting also voted to approve several proposals:

  • Supplementary committee members for TC485 mid-term.
  • Two national standardized guiding technical documents in the smart home sector, supporting the “AI + Manufacturing” Special Action Plan issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, driving intelligent upgrades of smart home products.
  • 14 draft national standards across four areas—communication components, communication cables, mobile communication clusters, and electromagnetic environment and safety protection—comprising 5 new standards and 9 revisions. Once published, these standards will provide clear, unified technical guidelines for R&D and manufacturing, further addressing gaps in industry regulations.

Taken together, SAC/TC 485’s work direction in 2026 reflects a clear focus on two fronts: cutting development timelines and embracing digital tools. Its priorities around intelligent transition mirror those of other technical committees that SESEC has observed this year, all echoing top level design priorities and reflecting artificial intelligence as a central standardization priority. For European stakeholders, TC 485’s accelerated pace and digital push mean standards in the communication sector will move faster and carry more technology driven content. SESEC will continue to track these developments.
