The 118th meeting of ISO Council and the Council Standing Committee on Strategy and Policy (CSC/SP) of ISO was held from June 7 to 9 in Stockholm, Sweden. Tian Shihong, China’s Vice-Minister of SAMR and Administrator of SAC, attended the meetings virtually and offered suggestions.

Established in 1947, ISO now is the world’s foremost comprehensive international standard organization, with the Council serving as the core of policy decisions. Attendees elected and appointed the Chair of DEVCO, a committee to support developing countries, and approved the fee of ISO membership for 2023.

Also, they discussed the issues  including  ISO  Strategy  2030, regional  participation  policies, application  of  ISO/ IEC Standards that are Machine Applicable, Readable and Transferable (SMART), etc. On behalf of China, Tian offered opinions on evaluation framework for the implementation of ISO Strategy, regional participation policies, sustainable development project, standardization education projects, and other vital issues, which is seconded by Sergio Mujica, ISO Secretary-General, and members of the Council.
