Starting from May 1, several important national standards will come into effect, covering areas such as no-reason return service specifications, toilet water efficiency, dining tables and chairs, wooden furniture, lightning disaster prevention in tourist attractions, building materials, and fire protection products.
National Standard on Toilet Water Efficiency
- “Minimum allowable values and water efficiency grades for toilets” (GB 25502—2024)is a mandatory national standard specifying water efficiency grades, technical requirements, test methods, and test equipment for toilets. It applies to the detection and evaluation of toilet water efficiency grades. Its implementation will improve water-saving technologies in the toilet industry and support its high-quality development.
National Standard on Dining Tables and Chairs
- “Dining Tables and Chairs” (GB/T 24821—2024)is a recommended national standard that defines the classification, requirements, inspection rules, labeling, instructions for use, packaging, transportation, and storage of dining tables and chairs. It applies to the design, production, sales, service, and inspection of stand-alone, movable dining tables and chairs (including stools) for indoor dining. The standard’s implementation will enhance quality and performance and promote the diversified development of the dining furniture industry.
National Standard on Wooden Furniture
- “General technical requirements for wooden furniture” (GB/T 3324—2024)is a recommended national standard covering requirements, inspection rules, labeling, instructions for use, packaging, transportation, and storage. It applies to the design, production, sales, service, and inspection of wooden furniture. The standard will help improve product quality and promote the healthy development of the wooden furniture industry.
National Standard on Lightning Disaster Prevention in Tourist Attractions
- “Technical specification for lightning disaster prevention in tourist attractions” (GB/T 44709—2024)is a recommended national standard regulating lightning monitoring and warning systems, protection of buildings and electronic systems, testing of lightning protection devices, and safety signage. It provides technical support for lightning protection in tourist areas, helping reduce or avoid the harm caused by lightning strikes and ensuring tourist safety.
National Standards for Building Materials
Six recommended national standards address materials used in building decoration:
- “Light steel keel for building” (GB/T 11981—2024)
- “Aluminium veneer for architectural decoration” (GB/T 23443—2024)
- “Metal and metal composite ceiling panels” (GB/T 23444—2024)
- “Insulation panels for non-load-bearing partition walls” (GB/T 23450—2024)
- “Natural granite building slabs” (GB/T 18601—2024)
- “General technical requirements for wooden doors and windows” (GB/T 29498—2024)
These standards regulate key building materials used in decoration. Their implementation will improve the quality and performance of construction materials and guide the industry toward producing functional and aesthetically pleasing materials.
National Standards on Green Product Evaluation for Ceramic Tiles and Wall Materials
- “Green product evaluation – Ceramic tiles (panels)” (GB/T 35610—2024)
- “Green product evaluation – Wall materials” (GB/T 35605—2024)
These recommended national standards define evaluation requirements and methods for green ceramic and wall materials, focusing on resource, energy, environmental, and quality attributes. Their implementation will encourage technical upgrades and clean production, advancing the green transformation of the building materials industry.
National Standards for Fire Protection Products
Six mandatory national standards are introduced:
- “Fire-resistant rolling shutter – Part 1: General technical requirements” (GB 14102.1—2024)
- “Fire-resistant rolling shutter – Part 2: Rolling shutter motors” (GB 14102.2—2024)
- “Fire-resistant rolling shutter – Part 3: Controllers” (GB 14102.3—2024)
These standards refine safety and service life requirements and define toxicity and air-tightness indicators for products used in major public buildings. - “Fire emergency lighting and evacuation indication systems” (GB 17945—2024)specifies product structure, functionality, battery type, performance, and materials used in fire emergency lighting systems.
- “Point-type smoke fire detectors” (GB 4715—2024)refines product classification, reliability, interference resistance, and sets limits to reduce false and missed alarms.
- “Fire alarm controllers” (GB 4717—2024)defines operational modes, communication protocols, bus performance, control and data analysis functions, and standardizes the time reference, improving fire response times.
These six mandatory standards will raise the technical level and performance of China’s fire protection products and promote equipment renewal and industry advancement.
