SESEC organised a informative webinar on China RoHS 2.0 on 3 November. More than 90 participants from European industries attended the webinar, which focused on the most concerned issues of this complex regulation including the regulation scope, labelling requirements and related standards.
China RoHS 2.0, officially known as the Administrative Measures for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products is a Chinese government regulation to control certain hazardous substances contained in EEPs (Electrical and Electronic Products). Jointly released by 8 Chinese ministries on 21 January 2016, this regulation was a revised version of China RoHS 1.0, and formally came into force on 1 July, 2016. Compared with the previous version, China RoHS 2.0 expanded to a much broader scope to cover almost all the EEPs. Prescribed in the regulation, EEPs refer to the devices and accessory products with rated working electrical voltages of no more than 1500 volts DC and 1000 volts AC which function by means of current or electromagnetic fields, and generate, transmit and measure such currents and electromagnetic fields. Since 1 July 2016, EEPs that are produced, sold and imported to China must comply with the regulation.
Due to the extended broad scope and short notice given, this regulation sparks much concerns among EEP manufacturers who produce or export their products to China. At this SESEC webinar, many of the most concerned issues were addressed by the SESEC expert Dr. Betty Xu. SESEC will continue to organise webinars regularly with high quality to help European industries in a practical way.
