Recently SESEC expert Dr. Betty Xu was invited by the University of International Business and Economics to work as the Mentor to the postgraduate students for professional practices focusing on How European Standardization Model facilitates EU-China bilateral trade.
At SESEC, we believe education on European standardization model to Chinese academia and the next generation of Chinese standardizers is strategically crucial to raise the awareness of European standardization in China. Therefore, SESEC has taken the initiative to establish cooperation with a few Chinese universities which have keen interests in standardization and in understanding the European Standardization System.
With advanced foreign language skills, the graduates of the University of International Business and Economics are actively involved in almost all aspects of international trade. Better understanding the European Standardization Model will help them in the future to drawn on the European practices in standardization to support international trade, and to increase international competitiveness of local industries.
SESEC organised a roundtable meeting and invited Deputy Director of Department of Industry I to elaborate on the National Plan to Improve the Standards and Quality for Manufacturing Equipment. SESEC roundtable is an effective platform for regulators and industry players to gather around and communicate face-to-face on specific issues related to standardization. It’s also an effective platform for SESEC to collect the first-hand information on standardization from both the regulators and the industries.
SESEC assistant attended the 2016 SAC/TC 124 (industrial process measurement, control and automation) Plenary meeting and presented EU regulatory and Standardization system to the TC members. SAC/TC124 has been heavily involved shaping the national standardization system for intelligent manufacturing. TC 124 members demonstrated big interests in getting to better understand the EU standardization model.
China Standardization Forum is the biggest nation-wide forum dedicated to standardization. The 2016 forum attracted more than 450 participants working in the standardization field across all sectors. SESEC expert attended the board meeting of the 2016 China Standardization Forum, and delivered a speech to promote EU standardization.
SESEC expert participated in the Forum organised by Hubei Standardization Institute and joined the panel discussion on Hubei Enterprises Go Global. SESEC expert reinforced the importance of international and EU standards to local companies when entering the EU and global markets. The role of EU standardization was better understood as a useful tool supporting and facilitating global trade.
SESEC expert was invited by Hubei Standardization Institute to present on the EU regulatory framework and standardization system to local companies which export their products to the EU market. The participants were very interested in getting to know the EU standardization system, and came to realise the importance of international and EU standards in global trade system.
SESEC expert was invited by Zhejiang Standardization Institute and China Metrology University (CJLU) to have a training session to the students majoring in the study of quality control on EU framework of technical regulation, quality infrastructure and standardization. The training was well received by the students. CJLU would like to establish long-term cooperation with SESEC project in regards to education of EU standardization.
SESEC expert was invited by Zhejiang Standardization Institute to introduce EU framework of technical regulation, quality infrastructure and standardization to local industries. It was the first time the local industries learn about EU standardization. Representatives from around 100 companies participated in the event, and demonstrated substantial interest in getting to understand the EU regulatory and standardization system, particularly in some vertical industries.
Issues like IT industry development trend, demand for standardization, and standardization priorities are addressed at the Forum, which attracted 400 participants from both public and private sectors. MIIT and SAC officials attended the event and delivered keynote speech. SESEC expert was invited to present EU regulatory and standardization system with a focus on IT standardization landscape. A set of white papers on 2016 New Generation of Information Technology Standardization as well as an Evaluation Report on Smart Cities Verification were also launched at the Forum.
SESEC expert attended the seminar on LVDC standardization, and was invited to present EU regulatory and standardization system as well as introduced EU experience in LVDC standardization. China has developed interests in the standardization of LVDC recently, and the participating experts of the seminar contributed to the standards-driven deployment of LVDC distribution networks. SESEC expert provided EU perspective and practice in regards to LVDC standardization.
