SESEC IV Online Event 21: Chinese Standards and Compliance for EU Exports to China

On 28 January 2021, the Seconded European Union Standardisation Expert in China (SESEC) project, the EU SME Centre, and China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) are organising an online event on “Standards and compliance for EU exports to China”.
It is the first of a webinar series that the EU SME Centre will organise in the first half of 2021, in close cooperation with its implementing partners and the Seconded European Union Standardisation Expert in China (SESEC) project.
It will provide a general introduction of China’s standardisation system and key requirements that EU exporters must follow, both for normal trade and for cross-border e-commerce. Specifically, the webinar will focus on two main aspects:
Overview of Chinese standardisation system: type of standards, and key future directions;
Standards compliance for EU exports to China under normal trade, including aspects such as: how to find the Chinese standards that European SMEs need to follow, how to do testing of products for compliance, relevance of CE mark, EU or ISO certification;
Standards compliance for EU exports to China under cross-border e-commerce, including the key question of whether SMEs need to comply with Chinese standards in the same way that they need to do for normal trade.

About the webinar series
This webinar is the first of a webinar series to be organised in the field of standards, conformity assessment and compliance in China. In fact, standards and compliance remain one of the main reasons why products exported from the EU to China encounter delays at the Chinese customs. The webinar series aims to address this issue by increasing the awareness of EU exporters; it will focus on horizontal issues, as well as on specific industries where EU exporters have a large presence in China.
